Since her student days, Frankfurt-based author Doris Lerche has traveled repeatedly through the countries of North Africa and Asia, impressed by the traditional Islamic cultures. She is also interested in the heritage of "al-Andaluz", the multicultural high culture under Islamic rule in southern Europe. Her diverse notes have resulted in 8 short texts in which she attempts to capture our Western-ambivalent relationship to the "Orient" in literary form.

Since the percussionist Günter Bozem and the multi-instrumentalist Markus Wach are intensively involved with the traditional music cultures of North Africa and Central Asia and often play in "oriental" groups, they like to be inspired by Doris Lerche. Their lyrics are interwoven with and against each other by various oriental drums and plucked and string instruments.
