Palmengarten

Since 1959, the concert series "Jazz im Palmengarten" has been held annually in the open air, organized by the Palmengarten Frankfurt am Main and the Jazz-Initiative Frankfurt am Main e.V.. It is considered the world's oldest continuously organized open-air jazz concert series.

Representatives of the Polish jazz scene have been regular guests at "Jazz im Palmengarten" for a long time. This year, the Wojtek Mazolewski Quintet will open the world's oldest open-air jazz concert series. Wojtek Mazolewski grew up in Gdansk. With his quintet and his band Pink Freud, he is considered one of the most successful Polish jazz musicians of the younger generation. The quintet is touring Poland, England, Argentina, Chile, Cuba, Mexico and now Germany with its current album "Beautiful People". Emotional music straight out of contemporary spiritual jazz, but with its very own Slavic roots. The new material comes with new energy and a new sound. Gilles Peterson said on BBC Radio that this will once again put Polish jazz in the international spotlight.
