The COMOEDIA MUNDI Theatre & Music Festival is once again offering a varied program this summer in the theater tent on the banks of the Main. "Little man - what now?" was premiered on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of COMOEDIA MUNDI. Loosely based on the novel by Hans Fallada, adapted by Fabian Schwarz and directed by Loes Snijders.

"Marriage and woe of Johannes Pinneberg, employee, loses his job, gets a job, becomes unemployed for good. One of six million, a nothing, and what the nothing feels, thinks and experiences." This is how Fallada himself describes the content of his novel in a letter to his publisher Ernst Rowohlt. Even though the circumstances of the 1920s, with the rise of National Socialism, the economic crisis and its existentially threatening consequences, make life difficult for the two protagonists, they are united by a deep love. The story thus refers to our current situation, when a war in Europe causes an energy crisis that was unthinkable for many just a short time ago. After the roaring 20s came the crash of the 30s. Embedded in the couple's troubled relationship, a buffonesque outside world develops, which keeps them in line. The individual stages of the descent of the accountant Pinneberg and his wife are counteracted by encounters with grotesquely comedic characters.

The production thrives on the intense confrontation with the main roles and the rapid changes to "juicy" supporting roles. Non-verbal movement images complement the couple's linguistically nuanced texts.
