The town of Bad Nauheim is known throughout Germany for its outstanding Art Nouveau complexes and the Trinkkuranlage is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful of these. Top-class concerts are regularly held in the listed complex. Between the horseshoe-shaped colonnades, there is not only an orchestra shell, but also the spa fountain temple with its splashing fountains. Behind it rises the drinking hall, which is architecturally based on an ancient thermal bath. In its center is the gilded spring bar.

Poland's rebirth as a sovereign state in 1918 was the mammoth task of consolidating a state. Nevertheless, the interwar period was a success story for Poland: despite its economic weakness, the country managed to strengthen itself and lay the foundations for modernization and, above all, a cultural heyday. However, Germany's claims to reunification and the aggressive policies of the Soviet Union loomed over the young state, which itself was on the path to an increasingly authoritarian system. The year 1939, with the invasion of Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union, marked the brutal end of Polish independence. The lecture by Prof. Dr. Peter Oliver Loew from the German Poland Institute in Darmstadt is part of the History 2025 lecture series on the topic of "Poland - the history of our neighbor in Europe".
