38th Hanau Kultoursommer: Irish Folk Festival - open air, Parkbühne Wilhelmsbad, Hanau - 2for1-tickets
Enjoy the warm summer evening with a chilled drink. Experience music, literature, theater and more live. These are the guarantees that have made the traditional "Hanauer Kultoursommer" a success story. This year's Irish Folk Festival for all lovers of Celtic music will feature Susan Coleman & Simon Pfisterer, Eva Coyle & Friends and The Outcast Crew.

Irishwoman Susan Coleman (vocals/concertina) and German Simon Pfisterer (guitar/Uilleann pipes) have been musical partners since they met in 2016 while studying at Limerick's Irish World Academy. Their music is deeply rooted in timeless, traditional Irish melodies and songs, which they bring to the stage with impressive technique and great sensitivity. Together they present a blend of lively dance music and storytelling in song.

Singer/songwriter Eva Coyle has a voice with a unique timbre. When she breathes her lyrics into the microphone, which spring from both reality and fiction, they trigger wonderful things. The sound is folky rather than traditional but with the use of typical Irish instruments such as the fiddle and accordion.

In the Irish Midlands, "The Outcast Crew" sings and plays for their local community. The band's name is a subtle one, as they are on the dark side of life. But the band is proud of it, self-confident, because it has its own culture. The quintet heats things up with its mixture of folk, rock, ska and punk. The rhythm section of drums and electric bass stirs up a pulsating ember onto which a beguiling Irish folk-scented essence is poured. This is a one hundred percent distillate of fiddle, accordion, guitar and vocals. The grating voice of singer and guitarist Brian O'Mahony is that of a roughneck and he looks the part.
