The legendary funk & soul band celebrates the 50th anniversary of multi-platinum album "Why Can't We Be Friends" live. Founded in 1962 in Long Beach, California, WAR are one of the most influential and long-lived soul/funk bands in music history. With single hits such as "Spill The Wine" and album classics including "The World Is A Ghetto" and "Why Can't We Be Friends", they have reached a worldwide audience of millions and released over 20 multi-platinum, platinum and gold albums and singles over the course of their long and illustrious career. On the 50th anniversary of their 1975 No. 1 album "Why Can't We Be Friends", the group around co-founder Lonnie Jordan celebrates together with their fans - and shows that their message of solidarity and harmony is more relevant today than ever!

Founded in 1962 as a street band, the formation celebrated its big breakthrough in 1970 when producer Jerry Goldstein brought the seven-piece band together with Eric Burdon, the former lead singer of the Animals, and this connection resulted in the worldwide No. 1 hit "Spill the Wine". In 1971, WAR ventured out on their own and launched a successful career with a dynamic sound that combined R&B, rock, Latin, jazz and blues.

In 1973, their hit album "The World is a Ghetto" reached number one on the Billboard pop and R&B charts thanks to the success of the album's socially critical title track and the exuberant follow-up "The Cisco Kid". Since then, the band has established itself as a permanent fixture in US music history, winning almost every award and accolade. This year, the group, led by co-founder Lonnie Jordan, is celebrating the 50th anniversary of their 1975 multi-platinum album "Why Can't We Be Friends" with a 50-date summer tour, remixes, new releases and much more.
