Internationales Theater Frankfurt

"Suitcases" is a synthesis of theater and contemporary circus in which three artists explore migration experiences through acrobatics, contact juggling and dance. Developed by the Upsala Circus team, the performance transforms personal stories of relocation into a universal statement about finding home, accepting change and the human capacity to start again. It is a family performance that captivates through the simple and clear language of the body.

The play is a collection of short stories based on the story of a suitcase. What life experiences do you carry in your suitcase? What journeys has this suitcase taken you on? What will you keep from its contents and what will you try to part with? Who will you meet on the road with your suitcase and how will these encounters change your life?

Faith in life and caring for each other form the foundation of the performance and give us strength for our journey into life. Through artistic images, circus metaphors and the performers' personal stories, the performance creates a space in which both locals experience the changes in their cities and migrants looking for a new home. Both can live through and feel the experiences of the other.
